Wooden Spoon in Adversity

I never thought of Steve H as a stirrer but here he is having been presented with the Wooden Spoon by Pete. This is a trophy that one day it is my ambition to win! Instead of which I got the "Adversity Trophy" which is a really splendid one and sits in pride of place on the mantelpiece in the lounge. I wonder how long it will take Barbara to realize that its there! Thank you all who voted for me to get this I was both surprised and chuffed especially to see my name engraved along with such deserving predecessors as Grant, Jackie, Jake and others it makes me proud to be a member of such a wonderful cycling club with great camaraderie. Well done also to all the other prize winners and may I add my congratulations to Brian for organising what was again in my opinion the best DD yet.

Pile-up at Manchester Velodrome

UCI World Cup 2011 - Awang's Splinter Update from British Cycling on Vimeo.

Footage of the pile-up in the Keirin final at Manchester at the weekend, and the splinter that went through the leg of one of the riders.

Don't watch if you are squeamish!

Club Dinner

I think we have about 90 people coming to the Club Dinner this year which is good. We plan to have all round tables this year as long ones are antisocial. The theme is Lady in Red and my friend suggested if you have nothing in red to wear red nail varnish, so come on ladies! The disco goes on till 12.30 to wear us young things out!! We have asked for more food this year and more veg. Looking forward to seeing all those sparkly frocks and waist coats and bow ties.

Mum of famous IronMan

While at Claygate 11's this Wednesday I met Sandra (Sandy) mum of Steve Bayliss. We talked about the old times when Steve & Tim were members of both the British MTB and Cyclo Cross Teams as juniors. I always remember Steve being quite tall and a very good runner with those long legs. Since then he has married Bella Britains top IronLady! I hope that Sandy starts to ride regularly with the Wayfarers and who knows she might even progress to riding with some of our KPRC Ladies. Must have something good in those Genes! Might also be a chance for our Ironman contenders to pick up some tips.

Website status - Updated

12:50 am Thursday 10th Feb 2010

Looks like there might have been a disk failure or something as the website was restored (not that they've phoned me back, at all!) with the very latest updates missing. I have re-uploaded the new front page and all should be well now.

As I think it was only the front page that I changed recently, I don't think that anything else should be missing or out of date, but if you find anything that looks amiss let me know and I will look into it.

Main website at http://www.kprc.org.uk is currently down - the pages are missing from the internet and I am unable to log in, despite that my provider is listing "no interruptions to service."

I'm guessing that as the company has been taken over and the fact that they have always been schizophrenic over whether I was a business or a residential customer, aren't helping the situation.

I have been on to technical support, but that's a real technical question so the lady I spoke to has had to pass the question on and I am waiting for a reply.

More when I know it.
